Surely, it can be frustrating not knowing the balance on your travel card, right? Logging in online and waiting for 24-48 hours for the balance to update (unless it's a long weekend, then it takes even longer) or finding a bus/tram/commuter train station to use the card reader are not ideal options. With ResSaldo, you get your balance directly on your phone.

NOTE: The new green SL cards do not contain any information; all data is stored by SL in the "cloud" – meaning the app cannot retrieve any information from these cards.

Travel companies use a rather old standard for their cards. This means that some phones may not be able to read these cards. Consequently, the app won't function on these models. This includes, but is not limited to Nexus 4, 5, 6, 7 (2nd gen), Nexus 10, Galaxy S4 series, Galaxy S6 series, Galaxy S7 series, LG G2, and more.

How to use the app?
1. Ensure NFC is enabled (Settings > Wireless & Networks)
2. Launch the application
3. Hold the card against the *back* of your phone; the app will automatically identify the travel company as it reads the card!

How does the app work?
With ResSaldo, you get your balance instantly updated right after you stamp your card. The app displays: balance, card validity, time of last stamping, final transfer time, and detailed information about your last journey/stamp. The specific information displayed may vary slightly between different card types and trips.

What technology does the app use?
The app utilizes the NFC reader present in most modern Android phones and reads the card using the same technology as Västtrafik's vehicle card reader. The application *only reads* your card. Like with any other technology, there is always a risk of something going wrong, but using the app does not pose more significant risks to your card than any other external NFC reader you might encounter in your daily life.

Lastly, this application is unofficial and has no affiliation with travel companies. Any errors or deficiencies are my own responsibility. Use it at your own risk. (One might argue that the various travel companies should have developed a similar app quite some time ago, but unfortunately, they have not.)
